Promoting Effective Learning

The emphasis in educational psychology and assessment should not be to identify deficits, but to focus on opportunities to promote effective learning and development. With our breadth of experience and our understanding of how the education system works we can provide psychological advice for both teachers and parents. We can also advise on SEN procedures and tribunals where appropriate with particular reference to the new Code of Practice, and one of our particular strengths is our ability to provide our reports in terms and language which are clear to all. If necessary, we can also help with the clarification of previous reports and communications.

Range Of Assessments

We can carry out assessments to meet most requirements of our clients, from intellectual functioning, through literacy and learning styles, to emotional and behavioural understanding and development. The approaches used will depend on the questions to be answered and on the context within which the assessment is required. As a general process, we try to clarify and establish the roles of those involved and then to identify specific abilities, impairments and tendencies. On the basis of the testing process we recommend certain strategies and plan interventions based on the analysis of information gathered.
